Calling for reforms: FAFEN plans education campaign

The campaign will be part of its new project, Ilm Ideas: Education for All - Making it Possible

LARKANA:

The Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) plans to launch a countrywide media and advocacy campaign for structural reforms in Pakistan's education sector, it announced at an orientation meeting on Monday.

The campaign will be part of its new project, Ilm Ideas: Education for All - Making it Possible. Indus Resource Centre's Naveed Khiyal and Fafen's Amjad Gadani briefed the meeting, saying that the campaign, which will simultaneously run on radio, electronic and social media, aims to advocate for constructive and sustainable education reforms that will increase access to quality education for children.

They added that the campaign would replicate successful voice and accountability interventions that had taken place in 18 districts across the country at the national level. It would call for reforms in education governance structure, increased budgetary allocations for education and a more effective role of district governments in order to ensure the provision of facilities in educational institutions.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various NGOs in Larkana.
