Annual wheat procurement begins
LAHORE:
The Punjab government has started its annual wheat procurement drive on Wednesday.
The provincial food department divided the province into 9 divisions and every division has been given a procurement target to facilitate small farmers.
In addition to this, the government has set up 10 complaint centres to monitor wheat procurement in different areas of the province.
These centres will report to the chief minister’s complaint cell on daily basis.
Provincial Food Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran said that the federal government will provide Rs119 billion to Punjab for procuring wheat.
He further said that there would be no ban on inter-district or inter-provincial movement of wheat.
