Precautions: Security heightened for Christmas holidays

On December 22 and 23, a bus would provide free transport to Christians, says Officer Imran Sikandar Baloch.

The district government on Sunday heightened security across Bahawalpur for Christian celebrations.


District Coordination Officer Imran Sikandar Baloch told newsmen that two Christmas bazaars would be set up in Bahawalpur and Hasilpur.

He said on December 22 and 23, a bus would provide free transport to Christians from Islami Colony Bahawalpur to Catholic Church at Gulzar-i-Sadiq.

The DCO directed Bahawalpur Waste Management Company to ensure cleanliness during Christmas holidays.

He said patrolling around churches had been increased.

He said police had been put on high alert.

The DCO said in a recent crackdown, police recovered illegal weapons from 26 people and arrested them.

He said police would also impound vehicles without registration plates. He said police would take any suspicious activity reported very seriously and immediate steps would be taken to investigate the reports. He said those spreading hate speech and making violent threats would also be taken to task in accordance withe law.
