Adnan Sami’s ‘Sweeta’ moment

The singer received immense appreciation for his song Sweeta from Kill Dil.

Adnan Sami Khan is no unknown commodity in Bollywood. He has lent vocals to countless hit Bollywood songs. The singer recently provided his vocals to the track Sweeta from the movie Kill Dil. The song is about a boy who is madly in love with a girl and is one of the more rambunctious numbers in the Shaad Ali directed film.

The lyrics to the song had been penned by veteran and legendary poet and lyricist Gulzar. The verses in the song contain a mixture of naughtiness, mishied, light-hearted-ness and excitement all the emotions a young man would usually displays while he is lovestruck.

The singer spoke of his chemistry with the musicians and lyricist in an interview with The Times of India. “(Music directors) Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and I have worked together in the past. When this particular song came up, Shaan told me about it. Gulzar sahab ke saath purani dosti hai, right from my first song Ankhein, which I composed and sang,” said Khan.

Khan has previously worked alongside the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the movies Salaam-e-Ishq and My Name Is Khan where he sang the song Dil Kya Kare and Noor-e-Khuda respectively.

“It was great fun coming together and working. It was more like friends jamming and having fun rather than a formal recording atmosphere. We had a lot of fun, and this translated into the song itself, which worked out really well.”

The singer felt that Ranveer Singh has elevated the song to another level with his spontaneity and vibrancy on camera with the actor’s impulsive lively dance towards the end of the song leaving Khan in stitches.

“Ranveer was absolutely fantastic. He is a delight to watch. He created a visual enactment. He put a face to the song. He was able to pick up on the slightest nuances of the voice,” remarked the Sweeta singer.

Khan who was once touted as the fastest piano players in the world was recently in the news for shedding a staggering amount of weight after which he has reportedly received various offers to act in films.
