Condolence reference: Capital teachers mourn Peshawar victims
Say words not enough to express grief
The Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) held a condolence reference at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College H-8 to express solidarity with the victims and survivors of the Peshawar massacre, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
FGCTA President Prof Sagheer Ahmed Mirani expressed his grief over the tragic incident.
Prof Yasmeen Zahir Bokhari said that no one could prepare a mother for loss of her children.
She said those who lost their lives were “my children as well. They are too precious to forget. Their memory will stay with us. Their bodies are mortal but they are immortal.”
Prof Bokhari said that the mental agony that the nation in general and the affected families in particular were going through calls for a firm determination that we shall protect our youth from such murderous beasts.
FGCTA former president Prof Tahir Mahmood said, “It is so difficult for me to say something. Words somehow seem not enough …and [are] scattered. The pain that the nation currently is going through cannot be expressed in words.”
Prof Mehmood emphasised the need of protecting and shielding the youth of the country from the mental agony and torture that were experiencing as a result of tragic incidents such as the Peshawar attack.
H-8 College Local Unit General Secretary Prof Muhammad Akram read out a poem with deep sentiments for the victims of the attack, and their parents.
Prof Mehmood Khokhar said that the tragedy had shaken the entire nation.
Prof Atta Muhammad Marwat, vice principal of the college, and others prayed for all those who had lost their lives in the massacre.
H-8 College Principal Prof Khurshid Ahmed Shakoori said, “We need to keep an eye on the elements that are misusing the name of Islam. We should remember the brilliant character of the teachers in Peshawar who sacrificed their lives while protecting their students at Army Public School.”
