Security concerns: Polio drive postponed
MULTAN:
The polio vaccination drive in Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran has been suspended due to security reasons.
DCO Zahid Saleem said the drive had been postponed as a precautionary step. He said terrorists were being hanged and the government had heightened security in all parts of the country to avoid any untoward incident.
EDO Health Iftikhar Qureshi said 2,700 teams had been formed for the drive.
He said the vaccination drive would start in the first week of January. He said five officials of the Health Department had been issued show cause notices for negligence in the recent anti polio campaign. The DCO issued notices to 10 private schools for violating orders of the provincial government.
