LAHORE: “All the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) should be abolished and military courts should be established to hear terrorism cases and convict terrorists,” Pakistani Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Saturday.

Qadri was addressing the press conference from Houston USA through video-link at PAT Model Town Secretariat, said all the civil institutes, departments and authorities dealing with terrorism should be brought under the control of army.

“Civil government in Pakistan does not have the capability to deal with terrorism,” Qadri declared.

The PAT chief said military courts dealing with terrorism should decide a case within seven days and a further seven more days should be given for the final appeal.

“A unanimous resolution should be adopted by a joint session of the parliament declaring National War against terrorism as our own war and people should be given ownership of this war to end terrorism,” Qadri said.

He added that the past governments have been sincere in eliminating terrorism and that all parties, groups and personalities who have been propagating radicalism should be banned.

“The funding from abroad to the religious or political parties should be banned. I request army to take note of it as the civil government has its own interests in this regard,” he claimed.

Qadri said that a board of international-stature ulema should be constituted to review the curriculum of religious seminaries. He said both religious and secular radicalism should be eliminated.

@Ch. Allah Daad: It's the fake democracy which has let the nation down. They are there to fill their pockets through defaulting corruption and even murder.

Even now it's the army which has taken all the key decisions through intervention. Until we have clean government we will always have army interference, which long term as a nation we don't want. So who is fake I rest my case?

@Shahbuddin: No one should give Tahirul Qadri place to speak his views. A runaway refugee cleric who tried to destabilize the country with anarchy is no position to offer any solutions. People like him who behave like they are above the law are part of the problem. Tahirul Qadri needs to be charged for instigating his brainwashed followers who attacked police in the Model Town incident. He is responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians he urged to take on security forces. We all remember seeing images of his followers fight over his used napkins. This type of mentality was in them when they were attacking police in Model Town.
