3 arrested for Dec 8 killing

A request had been sent to the provincial government to reward the policemen who had caught the men.

Faisalabad police said on Friday they had arrested three men accused of killing a Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) activist on December 8.


City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Habib Tajik said Muhammad Elyas Haidar, a resident of Chak 540-GB, Muhammad Imran, a resident of D-Type Colony and Usman Ali, a resident Madni Chowk, had been arrested in various raids conducted by police.


He said police had used TV footage of December 8 riots to identify the men.

He said Punjab government had fixed cash prize of Rs5 million for identification and arrest of those involved in killing the PTI worker December 8.

He said a request had been sent to the provincial government to reward the policemen who had caught the men.

Atta Muhammad Khan, elder brother of the deceased, had registered a case under Sections 302, 148, 149, 324 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) against State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, his son-in-law Sheharyar Khan, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, MPA Mian Tahir Jameel and 300 unidentified people.
