AJK: Crackdown on illegal refugees

In the wake of the Peshawar school attack, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police on Thursday launched a crackdown on illegal Afghan refugees.


“On the directive of the Inspector General of Police, we have launched an operation against illegal Afghans and around 80 people have been taken into custody in district Bagh and 40 in tehsil Dehirkot,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Bagh Riaz Abbasi.


He said that the operation will continue against illegal foreigners as special teams have been formed in various areas of district Bagh.


 Meanwhile, police in Muzaffarabad also launched an operation against illegal Afghans and made several arrests.
