MUZAFFARABAD:

Lord Nazir Ahmed offered his services for the political consensus and mediation between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government of Pakistan in the larger interest of the country.

He made the offer during a reception organized by PTI AJK chapter secretary general Mir Attiqur Rehman.

"Besides Pakistan, Imran Khan has worldwide fan-following, and it is in our religion to meditate between your brothers for the peace and tranquility. I have requested the government of Pakistan to allow me to meet Khan in Adiala Prison," said Lord Nazir, adding it is not good for the interest of Pakistan and democracy to keep Khan in prison for the long time.

Lord Nazir expressed eagerness to play his role for the political stability in Pakistan, adding, "Pakistan and AJK is my home. Nobody in the world can live in peace while seeing political instability in his motherland. Pakistan is first and everything for all of us."

Lord Nazir urged that the government of Pakistan should provide more facilities to the overseas Pakistanis in a bid to convince them to invest in Pakistan.

"The incumbent government is trying its best to overcome economic crisis, and we must appreciate it. I have observed during my visit to AJK and provinces that inflation is gradually coming down and power load shedding is no more in Pakistan. But it is the beginning and government should do more to give maximum relief to the lower-middle-class families in the country. Deputy Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is doing tremendous job and people have pined high hopes on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the betterment of the country," commented Lord Nazir Ahmed.

Earlier, Lord Nazir Ahmed visited Mir Attiqur Rehman's home to express his condolence on the sad demise of Mir's family members in the road accident.

He prayed for the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family for the irreparable loss of two precious lives.

Lord Nazir Ahmed was accompanied by AJK's former additional chief secretary Farhat Ali Mir, DIG Mir Jameel, social activist Maria Iqbal Tarana and six local councilors of Kotla constituency.

He invited the councilors to visit the UK to learn about its local bodies system.
