Solar Power: Land allocated for 50MW plant
Sindh Board of Revenue allocates 150 acres of land for setting up plant.
KARACHI:
The Sindh Board of Revenue has allocated 150 acres of land at Dhabeji area of Thatta district, near Karachi for setting up the first 50-megawatt solar power plant in the country at a cost of $125 million.
A German company, Azur Solar, will start work on establishing the solar power plant after six weeks of taking possession of the land. This was informed at a meeting of the Sindh Board of Investment held at the board’s office with officials of the German company.
Earlier, the German company had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sindh Board of Investment during the Sindh Investment Conference in April this year, for establishing a solar power plant.
The German delegation informed the meeting that their company is willing to install small solar power plants for providing electricity to the schools in Badin district, in collaboration with the provincial government.
