President Zardari appoints Imtiaz Safdar Warraich as president of Punjab chapter of Pakistan People’s Party.
ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday appointed Imtiaz Safdar Warraich as the president of the Punjab chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The PPP co-chairman approved the nomination of Waraich as the provincial president of the party.
The position had been vacant since the May when former president Rana Aftab resigned following his election defeat in by-polls.
Samiullah Khan had been in the role of acting president since.
Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira was also seen as a likely candidate for the post.
