Returning pilgrims troubled by flight delays

Hajj flights carrying the first batches of pilgrims from Makkah landed in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Quetta on Tuesday after several hours of delays.

The first direct Hajj flight from Jeddah to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa landed at the Peshawar airport after a five hour delay while the second Hajj flight to Peshawar also experienced a delay of 4.5 hours.

Speaking to Express News, pilgrims also complained about the arrangements made by the government for Hajj.

Pakistani pilgrims to Saudi Arabia had to face many problems, including being deprived of housing facilities at Mina and paying high rent.

The religious affairs ministry announced yesterday that the Saudi Hajj ministry would compensate 25,000 affected Pakistani pilgrims.

Also yesterday, Azam Khan Swati called for the removal of Hamid Saeed Kazimi from the cabinet on grounds of “looting thousands of pilgrims”.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has taken notice of the irregularities committed by ministry for religious affairs officials and has directed the ministry of foreign affairs to coordinate Hajj arrangements from next year.

salman khan | 14 years ago | Reply it is always the case that there is always poor arrangement by the ministry of hajj specially by the paksitani government. Why it is so? Is there not any body to cater for it on permanent bases to facilitate all those who are struggling in the cause of Allah.More all those who are not active on this part of special issue ,should be penalized and should be given such a lesson ,so that nobody should repeat the same mistake.God bless all those who are more serious about this issue and who realizes those people who are in trouble during these days of hajj. One important thing that is common to the Muslims of this modern world is that they are negligent about the core issues of their religion .Instead of this they are paying more for the things that does not costs high.
Ali | 14 years ago | Reply As usual PIA Haj flights are getting delayed for the poor unfortunate Hajis returning home after an ordeal, having been ripped off by none other than their own government's nominated corrupt to the core cronies. Those who ripped them off will get away with their loot after a farce of an investigation. They will be compensated, from the tax payer's money, while those who looted them will be allowed to get away. What a marvelous strategy, first rip the poor hajis and than rip the poor tax payer for the sins of somebody else.
