Forgotten children: ‘We have never seen polio teams in Cholistan’
BAHAWALPUR:
Nearly 20 families from Cholistan on Sunday protested against district authorities for failing to vaccinate their children.
Residents of Chak 126/DRB told newsmen that some of them had been living in the area for over 35 years and had never seen polio teams.
Sardar Ali Nawaz, one of the protesters, said no awareness drive had been launched in there area on polio vaccination.
He said many families had informed health authorities about the issue several times but still no one had come to vaccinate their children.
He urged the chief minister and the health secretary to take notice of the situation and send vaccination teams to their locality immediately.
A Health Department spokesman told The Express Tribune that concerns of residents of Chak 126/DRB would soon be addressed.
He said a polio vaccination team would visit the area during the next vaccination drive.
