Persistent drought over last 3 years make life difficult for the 1.6 million strong population of this district

MITHI: Two more children died in Tharparkar district, taking the total death toll for the current year to 562, Express News reported on Sunday.

The deaths are a grim reminder that life in the desert region of Tharparkar is becoming more difficult with each passing day.

The persistent drought over the last three years has made it all the more difficult for the 1.6 million strong population of this district.

Add these adverse conditions to the inadequate health facilities and lack of resources available to the residents, and it is no surprise that death has cast a permanent cloud over the district.

The provincial government claims it is providing free wheat bags of 50 kilogrammes to each of the 259,945 families in the district for a month. The citizens, however, have repeatedly complained of the quantity and delays in the wheat distribution.

The water of all rivers flows to the sea after heavy floods if some dams are constructed on these rivers and canals constructed thand these canals will help the people of Thar as will get drinking water and also water for crops and there will be no floods in Pakistan now it is up to the politicians and beurocrates of the country what to do.

SC silent on the issue. Must take Suo Moto & sack this Govt & impose Governor's Rule. Will have to answer on the Day of Judgement for every death.
