Food quality: Six ill after eating contaminated halwa

Six people were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital after they fell ill from consuming halwa near Saddar police station on Saturday. Police said Liaqat Ali, a resident of Dhuddiwala, had bought Halwa from a Saddar bazaar shop for his family.
They said after eating the halwa, Liaqat’s father Manga, mother Muneeran Bibi, wife Yasmeen and daughters Khalida and Iqra began vomiting. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors said their condition was critical. Imran Mehmood, the doctor on duty at the hospital, said the family were under intensive care.
Saddar station house officer said police had not received a complaint regarding the incident. He said police would take action against the shopkeeper who sold Liaqat substandard halwa if he lodged a complaint.
