Winter hazard: Couple dies in bed, gas heater left on

QUETTA: A man and his wife suffocated to death in their home in the Afghan Road area of the provincial capital on Saturday. According to police, Shair Muhammad and his wife were sleeping in their bedroom with the gas heater on. All windows were shut tight and the curtains drawn due to extreme cold. The heater kept on burning the oxygen in the room and the couple sank deeper and deeper into sleep and eventually died of suffocation in their bed. Their bodies were handed over to the heirs after legal formalities.
