
Strategic Marketing and Sales Summit was organised at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU) here on Saturday aimed at increasing collaboration between the academia and the industry.
The event provided an opportunity to the students to learn from the experts in the field.
Some 80 students attended the seminar and shared their projects with the experts.
High profile academics and industry specialists shared their views on latest advancements in sales and marketing. They also shared the challenges that they faced throughout their careers.
The day was divided into two sessions - starting with marketing and then sales.
Comprehensive discussions branched into topics such as sales execution and strategy, branding, strategic marketing, successful selling, relationship management and strategies for becoming a successful marketer were elaborated.
Experts also shared tools of effective marketing that could assist students with advancements in the field.
Students were educated about the nature of challenges that they might confront.
“There is so much that we can learn from them (the experts) which is not in the books” said Saima, a student.
The students spoke about how their interaction with marketing experts informed them about how to brand themselves. Mehbood another student about to graduate said that “all of us present here today learnt how we need to think out-of-the-box.”
Documentaries about two MBA students projects, “Room to Read”, “Sales management into fund raising to nation building” that helped build a library for underprivileged children in Sector H-9 and another project “Captains of the Sky” that assisted in getting stationery and school bags for underprivileged students in Sector F-6 were shown to the participants.
