Tharparkar drought kills 2 children as toll reaches 546

At least 40 children, suffering from malnutrition, currently admitted to Mithi hospital

MITHI: The unofficial death toll of children in drought-hit Tharparkar reached 546 for the year after two more died at Civil hospital, Mithi, Express News reported on Thursday.

The latest victims were admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. At least 40 children, suffering from malnutrition, are currently present at the hospital.

Yesterday, the calamity had claimed nine lives in the district.

A team of medical experts had reached the drought-affected desert district to uncover the cause of this incessant mortality.

Comprising 70 doctors and 130 postgraduate and undergraduate students from the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, the team will carry out fieldwork for four days.
