ISLAMABAD: The Transparency International (TI) Pakistan, while reminding that coastline was the property of federal government, has moved an application in the Supreme Court to stop the Sindh government from selling land belonging to Karachi Port Trust. TI has moved an application in the Supreme Court, requesting it to take notice over the alleged illegal sale of 350 acres of Clifton beach by the Sindh government. TI has already acquired restraining order over the sale of approximately 600 acres of mangrove-covered area between DHA Creek Avenue and Korangi Road in Karachi. TI alleged that an eight-acre plot has been allotted to a private university and a four-acre plot to the owners of a TV channel at throwaway price. According to TI, plans have been finalised to construct a 200,000 square feet palace for a political high-up on 45 acres of plot carved from these 350 acres belonging to KPT.

TI is a rather dubious organization itself. Well documented by Express Tribune: http://tribune.com.pk/story/90748/nicl-scam-behind-the-scenes-deal-uncovered/ and http://tribune.com.pk/story/92165/nicl-land-fraud-transparency-chief-under-fia-probe/
