PTI shutdown call: LHC summons CCPO to explain security plan

LHC summoned the CCPO to inform them about the security plan chalked out to maintain law and order on December 15.

LAHORE:

A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday summoned the capital city police officer (CCPO) to inform them about the security plan chalked out to maintain law and order on December 15.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has given a shut down call for the day.

The bench, comprising Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar and Justice Anwarul Haq, is hearing a petition filed by a businessman against the PTI’s protest call.

The petitioner, Naeem Mir, stated that the administration had failed to control the law and order situation in Faisalabad and a person was killed. He said that the same could happen in Lahore on December 15.

Additional Advocate General Abdul Aziz Awan appeared on behalf of the government and provided the bench a security plan for December 15. “Lahore has been divided into 164 sectors for security purposes. Twelve SSPs will supervise the security. All SHOs and circle DSPs will patrol the city on the day. As many as 19,680 policemen will be deployed.”

He said that special security arrangements would be made for 52 sensitive buildings, 63 markets and 13 city exits.

Civil Lines SP Imtiaz Safdar said the CCPO was responsible for implementing security plan in the city. The court summoned the CCPO to appear on Thursday (today).
