Cricket: Hawk-eye admits technical error

Hawk-Eye officials have accepted that the review system made an error in the dismissal of Pakistan batsman Shan Masood in the second Test against New Zealand in Dubai last month.
Masood was given out off a Trent Boult yorker and when he asked for a review, the hawk-eye technology projected the path to be cutting in to hit leg stump after pitching in front of it. However, the fact that it was an in-swinging yorker made Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq and chief selector Moin Khan file a complaint to the International Cricket Council on the inconsistency of the technology.
Hawk-Eye officials explained later that the particular instance brought together a unique set of circumstances that led to an operator making an input error, leading to what was shown on the TV.
