Man nearly kills wife for wanting to visit family

MULTAN: A man beat his wife with a lead pipe after she said she wanted to visit her parents after Eid. The woman was admitted to Nishtar hospital in critical condition on Saturday evening.

Mumtazabad Gul Zeb colony resident Zahida Bibi wished to meet her brothers and sisters after Eid and made a call to her family. Her husband Abdul Sattar found out about the proposed visit and beat her up. Police officials also said that Sattar had gotten Zahida’s thumb impressions on blank paper and had tried to show that Zahida had committed suicide. “He probably didn’t expect her to survive and she is still in critical condition,” said superintendent police (SP) Haroon Sial, adding “It was a ridiculous claim. No one could beat themselves up to that degree and we have apprehended Sattar.”

A case has been registered against Sattar but he was released from police custody after several hours of questioning. Zahida’s brother Shahid said that Sattar had threatened the family to take back the case.
