Treason trial: Special court directs govt to submit report on co-conspirators verdict

On Nov 21, court told govt to include names of three senior ex-functionaries in the charge-sheet against Musharraf

ISLAMABAD:
A special court on Tuesday ordered the government to submit a report pertaining to its November 21 order to include alleged co-conspirators in the high treason trial against former prime minister Pervez Musharraf by January 7, 2015, Express News reported.

The former military chief was charged in March this year for subverting and circumventing the Constitution by imposing emergency in the country on November 3, 2007 - charges he denies.

Musharraf had requested the court for inclusion of co-conspirators in the investigation. The special court on November 21 partially accepted the plea with majority vote.

As per the order, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, ex-federal minister Zahid Hamid and former chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar will be tried along with Musharraf for the 2007 emergency.
