In protest: Khalid Soomro’s sons threaten to block roads to Garhi Khuda Bux

The party also plans to hold a protest on December 19.

SUKKUR:
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s Sindh chapter has threatened to block all roads leading to Garhi Khuda Bux on December 27 - the day of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary.

The party said that they would be forced to do this if the police failed to arrest those responsible for the murder of their leader Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, who was shot dead on November 29 in Sukkur.

The threat was issued by Soomro’s sons - Rashid and Nasir, while addressing a press conference at the Madrassa Hamadia Manzilgah in Sukkur on Sunday evening.

Rashid Mehmood said that his father’s murder was one of the worst incidents in the history of Sindh. He added that an FIR had been lodged at the police station and the family was in touch with the DIG and SSP.

Soomro’s son claimed that the chief minister of Sindh or MPAs had not gotten in touch with the family to condole.

While talking to the media, Rashid said that at a meeting, it was decided that two committees would be formed - one will be headed by the party’s Sindh Naib Ameer and they will meet with IG Sindh to get updates on the case.

The other committee will be headed by the Ameer of the JUI-F’s Sindh chapter and will meet the DIG Larkana and SSP Sukkur to discuss the case.

The deceased leader’s son also announced that on December 19, the party will organise a protest throughout Sindh.
