On a rampage: Aftab Sherpao rails against PTI governance in province

Says 80% of K-P’s development funds have lapsed, rest diverted to favourites

MANSEHRA:

Former chief minister and Qaumi Watan Party leader Aftab Ahmed Sherpao said 80% of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s development funds have lapsed, while a major chunk of the money was illegally diverted to just three constituencies.

Speaking at a party workers’ convention on Sunday in Mansehra, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claims to struggle for a system based on justice, but was being unjust to the people of the province by depriving them of facilities.

“They have diverted a majority of the funds to the constituencies of Chief Minister Pervez Khatak, Speaker Asad Qaisar and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq, thus depriving the rest of K-P’s inhabitants.”

Sherpao said PTI’s government diverted the people’s attention from real problems to sit-ins and this strategy had several economic ramifications.

The QWP chief also accused the PTI of committing fraud in the intra-party elections.

Lambasting the PTI chairperson for his protest in the federal capital, Sherpao said Khan was cheating the people in the name of change.

He added Khan failed to prove election rigging allegations before all legal forums, including the Supreme Court and election tribunals.

“If there really was some wrongdoing, Imran Khan should let a judicial commission probe the matter. However, he chose not to because he had no proof of rigging,” Sherpao said. He added the sit-ins have caused irrecoverable losses to the national economy.

About the PTI chief’s announcement of blocking cities like Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad, Sherpao said Khan could not dislodge a sitting government with the support of a few thousand people. “Pakistan is not someone’s familial property that one man can hold hostage.”
