Fallen soldier: Major Shabbir Sharif remembered

The army paid homage to Major Shabbir Sharif on the anniversary of his martyrdom on Saturday.
A contingent of the Frontier Force regiment presented a guard of honour at Sharif’s grave in the Miani Sahib graveyard.
Major General Sajjad Ali Khan of the regiment and General Officer Commanding Major General Fida Hussain Malik placed a floral wreath at the grave.
Major generals (r) Zahoor Malik and Ghaziuddin Rana laid a wreath on behalf of Piffers. Senior officials from Piffers and relatives of the deceased were also present on the occasion. Sharif was martyred on December 6 in the Sulemanki sector during the 1971 Pakistan-India War. He is the most decorated soldier of the army being the recipient of the Sword of Honour, Sitara-i-Jurrat and the Nishan-i-Haider, the three most coveted decorations of the military. At the time of his martyrdom, he was only 28 years old.
