Planning for the new year: MUET presents Rs2.18b budget

The varsity has also earmarked Rs85 million, four per cent of the budget, for research work

HYDERABAD:
The 33rd senate meeting of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) presented a budget of Rs2.18 billion for the fiscal year 2015 on Friday. Almost 48 per cent of this sum, Rs1.04 billion, will be spent on employees’ salaries, while Rs109 million will be spent on the utility bills. The varsity has also earmarked Rs85 million, four per cent of the budget, for research work. The meeting was informed that a fund of Rs300 million, approved by the Sindh government, has yet to be released and that the federal government had also reduced MUET’s funding.
