Targeted: Trader shot dead

He went to Bacha Khan Chowk to buy groceries and was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists

PESHAWAR:
A man was shot dead at Bacha Khan Chowk in what appears to be another targeted attack in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station on Friday morning. Siraj Hussain, a resident of Imamia Colony, went to Bacha Khan Chowk to buy groceries when he was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists who fled from the site. Police believed it was yet another case of sectarian violence in the city. “The man had no personal disputes and was a small-scale trader,” an official of Faqirabad police station told The Express Tribune. Aggrieved relatives and enraged members of the Shia community announced they would block GT Road near Gulbahar police station after funeral prayers. The police, however, convinced them to call off the protest. Target killings have continued unabated in the city over the last few months and several policemen as well as government employees have fallen victim to the guns of assailants in different areas.
