KHAR: Three people were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting a peace committee volunteer’s vehicle in Bajaur Agency on Thursday. An official of the political administration said Musafir Khan was en route to Karkhana, Nawagai when the IED went off near his vehicle. His wife died on the spot while his wounded daughter Laila was rushed to Agency Headquarters Hospital along with another man identified as Siraj. Both succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Security forces cordoned the area off and conducted a search operation after the incident. The area is close to the Pak-Afghan border where government machinery and peace committee volunteers have been targeted in the past. There have also been incidents of rockets and shells fired from across the border. In wake of the attacks, committee members have restricted their movement in the areas.
