Filmmaker details how he went about making his directorial debut with the movie
The 1995 blockbuster, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), is set to complete 1000 weeks on December 12. To celebrate the indelible legacy of the film, a book titled Aditya Chopra relives Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, as told to author Nasreen Munni Kabir, has been launched, reported IANS.
The book is a personal story of the popular film, which turned the tide of Bollywood in the 1990s. Chopra, who made his directorial debut with the romantic drama, traces the journey that led to the making the film, read a statement. With pages comprising unknown information and anecdotes about DDLJ in the words of its director, as told to Kabir, the book is illustrated with many rare and unseen images.
In the book, Chopra discusses his influences and insight into cinema, and details how he went about making the life-altering movie, which has now become a love story staple for audiences across generations. Kabir is known for writing books, such as Guru Dutt: A Life in Cinema, Talking Films and Talking Songs with Javed Akhtar, AR Rahman: The Spirit of Music, and Lata Mangeshkar: In Her Own Voice.
Starring Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal and Mandira Bedi, the love story revolves around a fun-loving London-bred Punjabi boy and girl brought up in a conservative family. How he wins over the girl’s family, forms the rest of the story.
