Two police officials shot dead near Quetta

Victims were part of a recently introduced motorcycle mounted police force

QUETTA:
Two police officials were shot dead by unidentified assailants near a roadside hotel in the Shalkot area, on the outskirts of Quetta, Wednesday afternoon.

The policemen were part of a recently introduced motorcycle mounted police force.

“The assailants opened fire on the policemen near the hotel. One died on the spot, while the other sustained serious injuries,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Saryab Imran Qureshi told The Express Tribune.

The body of the deceased and the injured policeman were shifted to the Bolan Medical Teaching Hospital (BMC), where the latter succumbed to his injuries and died.


According to Shalkot police, the policemen were on routine patrolling in Ghai Khan Chowk and stopped for food at the roadside hotel when unidentified men opened fire on them.

The attackers managed to flee from the scene.

The deceased were identified as Head Constable Zahoor Ahmed and Constable Rahim Dad, both residents of Saryab.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
