Sukkur murder: JUI-F to hold nationwide protests on Dec 5

Party to stage demonstrations in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Gilgit-Baltistan

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) announced it will hold nationwide protests on December 5 against the murder of its General Secretary Sindh Dr Khalid Soomro, Express News reported on Monday.

A top leader of JUI-F in Sindh, Soomro was gunned down in Sukkur in the early hours of November 29 while he was offering Fajr prayer in a mosque of his under-construction seminary. Dr Soomro was also a former member of the Senate.

The announcement to hold protests against the killing was made during the meeting of party's Majlis-e-Shura in Sukkur.


JUI-F said it will stage demonstrations in different cities including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman spoke to the media after the meeting and said JUI-F is working for promotion of peace and solidarity in the region.

Earlier on November 30, Balochistan was completely shut down to mourn the murder of the JUI-F leader.
