Health reforms: ‘Govt to provide quality healthcare’

Chief secretary orders that anti-polio drive be continued across the province.

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema chaired a meeting on health reforms at the Civil Secretariat on Saturday.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had constituted seven groups of experts and officials to propose recommendations to resolve problems at public hospitals.

Those present in the meeting were briefed on their recommendations. Cheema directed the officials to ensure that the anti-polio campaign continued effectively and instructed them to ensure foolproof security for polio workers.



He said no tolerance would be shown to those found guilty of manhandling or misbehaving with polio workers. Cheema said the government had been utilising all resources at its disposal to provide the people with quality healthcare.

He said the recommendations would be implemented after being approved by the chief minister.

Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique said the government had allocated Rs102 billion for health for the current financial year.

He said additional funds would be released to finance the implementation of reforms in the sector.

Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik, Heath Services Director General Zahid Pervaiz and CM’s Health Roadmap Programme Chief Ijaz Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

Please pay salaries to dengue staff. some not paid for 5 months and some for 3-4 months now. also take notice of corruption in dengue project at ddoh offices in petrol consumption and fake daily wages staff for this year. Need an honest man to do audit of dengue programme spendings in local ddoh offices in lahore.
