Rooting it out: DC Swat takes action against revenue department officials

Sends reports against two tehsildars to provincial secretary

MINGORA: Swat Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam Wazir has suspended a revenue department official (patwari) and stopped the increments of another for three years.

According to a press release issued on Friday by the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Swat, action was taken against the officials because they had been negligent in performing their duties.

Moreover, Wazir also sent reports against two tehsildars to the provincial secretary to ensure disciplinary action is taken against them, stated the press release.



The deputy commissioner was visiting different tehsils in Swat district on the directives of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to monitor the revenue department.

Wazir warned the revenue department officials to perform their duties efficiently and cater to the needs of the general public. According to the press release, action would be taken against any officials who perform their duties in a negligent or dishonest manner.

The DC also met members of the general public and asked them if they had any complaints regarding the revenue department. He insisted there was no space for corrupt officials in the department and all necessary steps would be taken to root out any malpractices.

The initiative was lauded by members of the general public. They expressed satisfaction over the DC’s commitment to stem corruption in the revenue department.
