LHC directs govt not to take any illegal action against PTI workers

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday disposed of several petitions against the alleged arrests of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Punjab, while directing the government not to take any illegal action against peaceful political workers.

The PTI Punjab chapter President Ijaz Chaudhry, who had filed the petitions along with other party workers, said the government had launched a crackdown on their party workers to stop them from participating in the planned Nov 30 rally in Islamabad.

The petitioners asked the court to restrain the police from arresting and harassing the PTI workers, as many workers had already been taken into custody and police had been conducting raids on their houses. However, the deputy advocate general denied the allegations.
