Sajjad enjoyed a brilliant start in the match, building a 3-0 lead, but Jones threatened to burst his bubble for a brief period as he hit back to make it 3-2.
However, Sajjad made sure that he held on to the lead and thrashed Jones in the sixth and seventh frames, winning by scores of 64-24, 70-43, 68-08, 25-62, 0-86(83), 90-0(90) and 80-04.
He will now face Malaysia’s Thor Chuanleong – the current Asian champion – in his pre quarter-final match.
Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif Toba and Hamza Akbar exited the competition after being defeated in their first knockout matches. Both cueists lost in the last-64 round after enjoying a good run in the group stages.
