Development works: Sites for city projects reviewed

Ports and Shipping Secretary Mian Imtiaz Ahmad and District Coordination Officer Nabeel Javed on Monday visited proposed sites for construction of a flyover on Abbasia Underpass, a new vegetable and fruit market on Shahbazpur road and extension of road from Pull Dari Sanghi to Abu Dhabi Palace Road.

Javed told newsmen the flyover on Abbasia underpass - an extension project of Abbasia railway underpass – had been delayed because the Railways Department had raised some technical objections to it. He said experts would soon visit the site and give their recommendations. He said once the objections were settled, construction would begin as soon as possible. He said grain markets had been moved to the suburbs of the city and soon fruit and vegetable markets would also be moved. Javed said work on the project had begun. He said land was being acquired at Basti Malikpur on Shahbazpur Road for this purpose.
