LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers in Lahore met over a brunch on Sunday to discuss the party’s strategy ahead of its November 30 rally in Islamabad.

They decided to hold a mobilisation rally in the city on November 28. Party officials have been directed to mobilise workers ahead of the rally. The PTI has been holding a dharna in Islamabad since August 14 to protest alleged rigging in the May 2013 general elections.

Hundreds of party workers including union-council chairmen, MPA Dr Murad Raas and MPA Sadia Sohail among others met for brunch at the PTI’s Insaf Markaz. The brunch marked the start of the party’s campaign in the city before the rally. Party workers decided to set up camps across the city to mobilise citizens. They will disseminate information about the rally and register supporters and workers who wanted to travel to Islamabad for the “big showdown”.

Insaf Markaz coordinator Tanzeela Imran Khan said, “We will organise several other mobilisation activities in the coming days.” She said the PTI wanted to reach out to people and encourage them to join the party workers for the Islamabad rally.

The coordinator said that the party will also hold a mobilisation rally on Friday. “The rally will start at the Liberty Roundabout and continue till Data Darbar.” She said party leaders will visit the Data Darbar before heading out to join the Islamabad rally on Saturday. Several PTI workers will also hold a motorcycle rally on the same day (Saturday).

She said registration camps will be established across the city. “Members of the PTI and supporters from across the district will head out for Islamabad on November 29.” Women supporters and the party’s youth wing will play an active role in the PTI’s mobilisation campaign ahead of the November 30 rally.

Earlier, the PTI issued a schedule for PTI supporters and workers across the province who wanted to travel to Islamabad for the rally. According to the schedule, party leaders and workers from Lahore will depart for Islamabad on November 29.
