Pakistan make it to the kabaddi final
Last year’s runners-up defeat India; face Iran at Asian Beach Games
KARACHI:
Pakistan made it to the Asian Beach Games’ kabaddi final after defeating arch-rivals India 39-28 yesterday at the Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand.
The team dominated both halves of the semi-final with scores of 18-16 and 21-12. Meanwhile, Iran defeated Sri Lanka 45-34 in the other semi. The finalists will now face each other in last edition’s repeat encounter, which Iran had eventually won. The defending champions defeated Pakistan 39-33 in the 2012 final.
In the current tournament, both teams go into the final unbeaten, while Pakistan’s last group match against Korea ended in a 34-34 draw.
In their earlier matches, Pakistan defeated Oman 42-33 and Sri Lanka 37-28. The final match will be played today on the last day of the Games.
