Maqsood out of limited overs series against NZ
The 27-year-old suffered a hairline fracture and is out for four weeks
KARACHI:
Middle-order batsman Sohaib Maqsood is likely to miss out on both the T20 and ODI series against New Zealand due to a hairline fracture in his wrist.
Pakistan’s treatment table is getting fuller by the day as opener Ahmed Shehzad is also out of the side after a hairline fracture on his cheekbone and will take a few more days to recover.
However, Maqsood’s injury is more serious and may force him out of the action for more than three weeks.
The initial pain started when he was captaining Pakistan A against UAE in the third match of their five-match ODI series and did not participate in the last two, with Anwar Ali captaining in his absence.
“I felt pain in my wrist while playing against UAE and decided to rest for the remaining matches,” Sohaib told The Express Tribune. “I thought the pain would subside with the rest but it got aggravated when we played against Afghanistan A. The scans have shown that there is a hairline fracture in my wrist and right now it has been bandaged and we’ll see what the position will be after two weeks. It might take nearly four weeks to fully heal.”
The 27-year-old has represented Pakistan in 18 ODIs and 14 T20Is so far in his short career.
