Tharparkar drought claims life of three-year-old

The drought has claimed nearly 300 lives this year

Death toll continues to rise in the drought-hit Tharparkar as another child passed away on Friday due to malnutrition, Express News reported. 

The three-year-old child was a resident of Mithi.


The drought has claimed nearly 300 lives this year. An alarming number of children are suffering from pneumonia or diarrhoea due to a dangerous mix of drought, poverty and poor health infrastructure.

Since the start of October, 48 children have died in Tharparkar, according to doctor Abdul Jalil, district health officer for Tharparkar district.
