‘Rs2 billion being spent on research at UAF’

University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice-Chancellor Iqrar Ahmed Khan said on Thursday that the nation was fighting various challenges including food insecurity, climate change and low agricultural productivity.


He was chairing the third-annual workshop on scientific writing and plagiarism.

Khan stressed the need for scientists to produce tangible research to enable farmers, industry and the common man to overcome the challenges confronting them. He said they should premise their efforts around honesty and integrity to resolve the challenges confronting all stakeholders.


Khan said the UAF had been striving to foster a conductive environment for researchers to enable them to conceive and execute their ideas in a befitting manner. He said Rs2 billion was being spent on various research activities being carried out by the university. Khan said out of this Rs700 million had been secured from international sources.

He said strict measures were being taken to curb the incidence of plagiarism. Senior Tutor Aslam Pervez said Pakistan had no dearth of talent and its potential should be harnessed properly. He said he had been trying to polish the students’ skills .

Student Affairs Principal Officer Muhammad Yunus said dedicated teachers and researchers could change the destiny of a nation. He urged scientists to excel in scientific knowledge and techniques.

Quality Enhancement Cell Director Ahrar Ahmad said the university’s research citations had shown a marked increase.
