Tragic end: 70-year-old kills ‘unruly’ son, commits suicide
Iftikhar used to misbehave with his father often, police says.

A man committed suicide in Township on Wednesday after killing his son. Saddar SP Ijaz Shafi Dogar told The Express Tribune that Akbar*, 70, shot and killed his 35-year-old son Iftikhar* and later committed suicide.
“Akbar was the owner of a medical store. On Wednesday afternoon, he was sitting in his store, when his son arrived and got into an argument with him.
Later, Iftikhar went to a nearby hairdresser’s. His father took his handgun and followed him there. He shot Iftikhar twice in the neck. Then he returned to his shop and shot himself,” the official said.
According to a witness, Akbar missed the first time he shot himself.
“He reloaded his pistol and shot himself again,” the eyewitness said. According to another witness, the father and son had not been getting along.
“Iftikhar used to misbehave with his father often,” he said. An officer at the Jinnah Hospital said that they had received the body of a 35-year old man, who had received two bullet wounds.
