Quetta operation: Police raid house making fake drugs
Police have arrested four suspects after raiding a house manufacturing counterfeit syrups and medicines in Satellite Town area of Quetta.
Superintendent of Police Saryab area, Imran Qureshi said police have seized a large quantity of medicines and syrups from the house. “The fake medicines and syrups seized from the house are worth hundreds of thousands of rupees,” Qureshi told The Express Tribune.
The suspects had rented the house around two and a half years ago in Satellite Town for manufacturing counterfeit medicine. “They had been distributing medicines to different medical stores of Quetta over the past two years,” he said.
“The suspects had links with people in Karachi
who are also manufacturing counterfeit medicines and selling in Karachi,” Qureshi added.
He said most of the syrups are for children. Setting up a medical store or pharmacy is most lucrative business in Quetta which is home to more than 40 private hospitals.
