Business talk: S Africa, Pakistan to boost trade

Envoy says it is a golden opportunity for Pakistan’s investors to set up textile units in South Africa

ISLAMABAD:
High Commissioner of South Africa Mpendulo Kumalo has vowed to make all-out efforts to boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and South Africa. Both countries possess good potential to enhance cooperation in multiple fields of business and economy, he said, while addressing the business community during his visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  He said that South Africa offered attractive incentives to foreign investors due to which almost all world giant companies had set up manufacturing facilities in his country. He said protection tariffs in textile were very high in South Africa, however, it was a golden opportunity for Pakistan’s investors to set up textile units in South Africa. He said South Africa was very strong in mining with great expertise and advanced technology and Pakistan could better exploit its mineral resources by promoting cooperation in this field.
