At least four killed as coach overturns near Lasbela
15 others injured; bus was enroute from Turbat to Karachi
QUETTA:
At least four people were killed and 15 others wounded after a passenger bus overturned and plunged on Coastal Highway near Lasbela on Tuesday.
The passenger bus was on its way to Turbat from Karachi when it fell in a trench.
Passersby shifted the injured to a state-run hospital in Ormara, as rescue workers and coast guards rushed to the spot.
“At least four people were killed and 15 wounded,” Fawad Summoro, Deputy Commissioner Lasbela district, told The Express Tribune.
“Rescue workers and Levies personnel reached the site and hospital,” Summoro said, adding, “The cause of this accident was over speeding.”
Women and children are among the injured and most of the victims belong to Turbat.
Tragic accidents on coastal and national highways of Balochistan are a permanent feature where dozens of people die every month.
The leading causes of the fatal accidents are often precarious condition of highways and reckless driving.
National Highway Authority is yet to improve highways even after a tragic accident killed at least 30 in Hub earlier this year.
