KHAIRPUR:
A week after a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against National Highway Authority (NHA) for the deadly Khairpur road accident, three officials appeared before police to record their statements, Express News reported.
At least 60 people were killed and several others sustained injuries when a passenger bus collided with a truck on Theri Bypass on November 11.
Earlier today, SP Masood Bhangash said police will issue a challan in court if NHA officials fail to record statements.
Suspended NHA General Manager Mukesh Kumar, project head Jehangir Larak and legal affairs officer Ghulam Hussain arrived in Khairpur to present their version before police.
However, when the highway authority officials reached the ASP office, no police official was there to meet them. The NHA officials left after waiting for some time and said they will appear again if asked.
While the driver and other witnesses have recorded their statements, NHA officials have not done so till date.
Police have also stopped NHA from carrying out reconstruction work at the National Highway near Khairpur and sealed their offices in the district.
