Fighting for health: EPI plans immunisation drive

The DHOs and THOs from all the targeted districts have been told to start campaign preparations

The provincial health department's Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) plans to undertake supplementary immunisation activities in Sindh from November 24 to 26, in which a target number of 3,683,298 children under the age of five will be immunised.



In a letter addressed to the district health officers (DHOs), deputy commissioners and taluka health officers (THOs) of Karachi, EPI project director Dr Mazhar Ali Khamisani said that in Karachi alone, 846,655 children in 16 towns and 97 union councils (UCs) would be immunised. Meanwhile, 2,836,643 children are targeted for immunisation in 433 UCs in Sindh.

The DHOs and THOs from all the targeted districts have been told to start campaign preparations in line with the National Emergency Action Plan 2014. They will receive technical assistance from the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Children's Fund for the activities.
