Terror in Khuzdar: Grenade attack on bus terminal kills 1, injures 13
Unidentified men hurled hand grenade inside the terminal during the morning rush hour
QUETTA:
One person was killed and 13 others were wounded in a hand grenade attack at a busy bus terminal in Khuzdar on Sunday.
Police officials said unidentified men hurled a hand grenade at commuters inside the intra-district bus terminal in Arbab Complex during the morning rush hour.
Witnesses said that they heard a loud explosion as the small home-made device went off in the terminal.
Smoke billowed from the bombsite as first responders investigated the chaotic scene, while rescuers shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital, where one of the injured, identified as Abdul Wahab, succumbed to his critical wounds.
“The bus terminal was the actual target as there was no public figure in the area who could have been targeted,” Abdul Majeed Marri, SHO Khuzdar police station, told The Express Tribune.
Quoting one of the injured passengers, the police officer said, “An object wrapped in a plastic bag was hurled in the area which exploded with a loud bang.”
There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack. Khuzdar is one of the troubled districts in insurgency-hit Balochishtan which has been facing serious law and order problems for the last several years.
